When one declares oneself to be a conservative, one is not, unfortunately, thereupon visited by tongues of fire that leave one omniscient. The acceptance of a series of premises is just the beginning. After that, we need constantly to inform ourselves, to analyze and to think through our premises and their ramifications. We need to ponder, in the light of the evidence, the strengths and the weaknesses, the consistencies and the inconsistencies, the glory and the frailty of our position, week in and week out. Otherwise, we will not hold our own in a world where informed dedication, not just dedication, is necessary for survival and growth.

Welcome To A New Team Member!

An exciting announcement today regarding a new author here at CC. In our commitment to making this a place for serious discussion and quality content, we are pleased to welcome Craig Bardo (CB) to the team!

Craig comes to us from Nashville, TN and has authored his own blog (http://www.financialmarketmeltdown.blogspot.com/) for some time now. He brings to the table economic expertise as well as the perspective of a business owner. His acceptance has been highly anticipated, and I know that you will find his work a value added as you make your rounds through here each day.

Look for his own introductory post in the coming days. Make sure you take a minute and visit his site and see where he has been discussing the economic issues of the day.

Again Craig, Welcome Aboard!

Great news! Congratulations to CC and Craig; I suspect that CC is getting the better deal. Finally Jennifer won't be the only class act here!

I want you sailors to go easy on the Marine, now. You know how sensitive Robert is.

LOL Mustang! I think it's awesome that Craig has joined us and I look forward to his posts. Like T-P said, it is certainly my forte either.

Check fire....you mean Bardo is a squid too? This was a well executed L-shaped ambush, apparently.

But, all they need is three or four more and it will then be a fair fight....

Stay close Mustang, I might need some supporting fires....

Well, this should prove interesting....having just reviewed his blog it does not look like he has written a single one of the articles...

It seems that all everyone wants to talk about is slogans such as lower taxes and smaller government but no one really understands the logic/illogic of what they promote.

Tao, let us play nice, at least until you have seen his work.

There is good reason we reference timeless works like the Iliad and the Constitution. Sometimes it is a sign of confidence and intellect that we recognize that perhaps someone said it better than anyone else and it should be shared.

That being said, CB brings his unique works here, as well as his obvious knowledge of current events and current thinking. His work will be value added.

Geesh, before long I will be run out of town and have to get my own blog....

Thank you all for your welcome and I'm glad to be in your company.

Brother TAO, I hope you stick around. I am a regular contributor to Marxist, Maoist and Trotskyist blogs. I also regularly tussle with black nationalists who believe that anyone with my set of beliefs is a sellout. I have been called Uncle Tom, hankerchief head, lawn jockey and worse by black folks. I have a pretty thick skin. Hang around, you and I will have some fun!

CB,

First welcome to our virtual couch. I have not had the pleasure (pain?) to peruse through your blog and postings but will do so once I hop my rear-end out of here.

As to thick skin? Brother, I can relate! Not too many olive-skinned folks of Latino descent in these parts with my particular views. Being an independent conservative / libertarian is like driving a fire truck in Hades,... talk about needing to have your head on a swivel. The names I've been called would make dearest mother not too happy...

I'm looking forward to reading your stuff tonight...

Onward!

Great that you have Gayle along, too. Terrific!
