When one declares oneself to be a conservative, one is not, unfortunately, thereupon visited by tongues of fire that leave one omniscient. The acceptance of a series of premises is just the beginning. After that, we need constantly to inform ourselves, to analyze and to think through our premises and their ramifications. We need to ponder, in the light of the evidence, the strengths and the weaknesses, the consistencies and the inconsistencies, the glory and the frailty of our position, week in and week out. Otherwise, we will not hold our own in a world where informed dedication, not just dedication, is necessary for survival and growth.

My apologies for missing the grand event. I wrote reminders to myself, wrapped string around each of my tentacles, logged the date and time in my appointment calendar and, just a hour before the moment arrived, I fell asleep in front of the nightly news and did not awake until 4:30 am.
Yes, the news was boring. How was the chat and all that?
Ock: The chat was good.
Robert, Jenn, and the gang: Hopefully you learned something from the meet-and-greet. Like length. Looks like Craig and TP kept going until after midnight.
Can't wait until the next chat....
8pus, the chat was nice. I am going to have to develop my moderating skills, or use another chat function. There were a total of 10 people here at one point, and few who already said they forgot/missed it. The next one will be huge.
I am thinking about making the next one a panel chat, instead of an open chat. Since the economics thread is a hot one this week, I may get three panelists to answer questions from the moderator, and everyone else can ask questions on topic instead of an open chat forum. It would be a more structured format than I originally had in mind, but with the amount of interest last night, it would probably be beneficial. Of course, I have to discuss this with my better half and see what the rest of the team thinks. I will try and connect with them tonight.
Craig, TP, Sam, and Gayle...if you see this before I get to you, email me your thoughts please.
Patrick, thanks for participating. After the crowd got thin, I sat back and just watched TP and Craig discuss. I was fascinated because, as I told them, I have never witnessed two navy guys assemble that many complete sentences before.
I think Jenn and I begged off about 1100 or so, but we kept getting dragged back in....
Stay tuned! Someone will make the next chat announcment in a couple of days....
Sorry I couldn't be here! :(
Octopus...TENTACLES..You wouldn't believe the word I first read....!!
OOOPS!! Sorry I missed this, too, as if I could figure out how to DO it...well, I figured out AOW's Blog Radio chat, maybe I can handle this too next time!
