When one declares oneself to be a conservative, one is not, unfortunately, thereupon visited by tongues of fire that leave one omniscient. The acceptance of a series of premises is just the beginning. After that, we need constantly to inform ourselves, to analyze and to think through our premises and their ramifications. We need to ponder, in the light of the evidence, the strengths and the weaknesses, the consistencies and the inconsistencies, the glory and the frailty of our position, week in and week out. Otherwise, we will not hold our own in a world where informed dedication, not just dedication, is necessary for survival and growth.

I think you have it backwards Robert! :-)
Not at all. I am looking forward to how awesome this place will be soon.
Your mission statement (Is it ok to call it that?) is interesting and I look forward to dropping by when I can for intelligent debate, a little nonsensical banter( sometimes you need a little comic relief!) and getting to know you both better. I wondered how things would develop in the blogosphere now that the election is over. You sound like you are taking a constructive approach and I can't wait to see what some of the lefties will do with their blogs now. At least I won't be bored over the winter!
Best wishes to you both on this new endeavor!
Well, as half of this new blog is Jennifer, I had to follow a link. Once you start getting some posts up, I'll probably do a post highlighting this blog among my favs in the blogroll.
Until then, I'll just add you to the blogroll.
Rocky, thanks for the comments and I am glad that you find it positive and productive! If you have that opinion, then the right will probably be happy and the left will think we are wingnuts! We must be doing it pretty well from the start.
No one should think we are going to be easy on the GOP. We have both taken them to task in the past, and I am pretty certian they will be in our sights on a pretty regular basis. After all, dems are who they are so they can't help it. It is the party of the elephant that, in an ironic play on cliche, that has forgotten us.
Can we count on you to be here regularly?
Patrick, I hope to convince you to stay for both of us, but if you stay because of Jenn...well, I can't blame you!
Robert - will I be by regularly? Me of the long winded comment/novels!?!
But, of course!
Actually, I'll be gone for a few days once again to help our ailing relative but I'll be back here to check in by Wed.
I think the days of the two party system may be waning and it is probably time for some changes in how our political system operates. I think this blog may be the place where new ideas will hatch. As you know, my more moderate stance sometimes puts us at opposite sides, but I'll enjoy the debate. No doubt, over time, this will become a cyber European cafe.
Good luck to both of you.
I am looking forward to reading your work.
Thanks Bubba! A name after my own heart, being from Alabama....lol.
Please visit often. I hope I have the need to make 10 gallons of sweet tea a day to serve to all of our regulars. We want people to own this place as much as we do, and us all rally together to demand a return of real conservative principle to our party.
Rocky, Thanks for dropping by! I've enjoyed your comments over at Robert's (even the last one, that I goofed up on)! I look forward to your visits and our enlightening debates!
Patrick, I am glad you followed the link, kinda like following the yellow brick road, to find courage, wisdom, and heart. Hopefully, you will find all that and more here! Thanks for adding us to your blogroll, we will add you here as well.
Robert, I believe there is a target on the elephant and it will be fun to se how close we can come to hitting it. They certainly let us down and they will not get the free pass here!
Thanks Bubba! I look forward to seeing you around!
Rocky, when we are at odds it is always in thought and with angelic intent! I enjoy your differences of opinion because you mean them and are not parroting anyone...and we discuss things in a civil manner.
Not sure how many unique ideas will be hatched here, but we would lvoe this to become a center for debate and discussion.
Best of wishes and prayers for your mother. Please know that she is on my list and I am sure Jenn will add her too!
Most certainly Rocky! It takes something special to take care of someone sick and I respect you a great deal for it! My thought and prayers are also with you!
Great approach and so very needed.
I belong to no party, I am conservative on fiscal, security, and defense issues. I am probably a little more liberal than both of you on social issues. Whatever the issue, whatever the problem, I am for the solution that leaves the most freedom for the individual intact.
If it wasn't for the fact that Ron Paul didn't advocate killing terrorists before they kill us, I might have supported him. But this is a dangerous world we live in now and I simply cannot advocate for "head in the sand" foreign policy. Wasn't too crazy about overextending into Iraq when we did, but once the decison was made, my philosophy was/is victory, and nothing less.
Thanks for inviting me Jenn, and Robert, I look forward to reading and participating. I will blogroll and promote. I will tell the colonel about this site too.
Never mind about telling the colonel, it looks like Mustang has already been here.
LA, thanks for visiting and I hope you do find it a place you can spend some time with us!
We have to offer real change...that is, the party has to offer soemthing that is substantially different than the other party and different from what wehave been offering. The secret has been in the republican possession since the mid 1700s. Somehow we forgot that Jefferson really did know what he was talking about.
And by the way, it would be quite borring if everyone here agreed on everything...
Well, I truly do hope that someone defines conservative principles and does demand a return to them. Getting kind of tired reading "conservative" blogs that confuse true conservatism with religious liberalism. Of which Jenn's blog is guilty of. Liberals lie no more than conservatives do, Liberals do not believe in big government any more than conservatives do...and their is no difference between higher government taxes and higher government debt. So, if this is going to be a true conservative blog that discusses the truth then I say, "Welcome" if it is just going to be a blog of a bunch of people who want to find comfort in their shared sense of "superiority" then....join the herd.
We have followed the current strain of conservatism for 20 years and it has been the dominant trend in our political society for that time...even Clinton a liberal democrat reformed welfare to welfare to work and even he bragged about the end of big government....and look at the mess this country is in and it is not a mess because of congress or whatever you want to believe...it is a mess because conservatism has been hijacked by those who profess to believe.
Tao, I do appreciate your visit and I hope you will do it regularly. We truly desire our readers to feel some form of ownership of this place. We will disagree, but there is no point in doing so in a rude or demeaning manner.
I am headed out the door to my place of worship and therefore do not have the time to respond at this moment. I will return this afternoon, and make some comments regarding your post. I disagree with your assertion, but it will have to wait!
In the meantime, grab the remote, help yourself to the fridge, or even jump in the car with us for some liturgical moments...
Hello and I want to tell you that I really enjoyed reading this blog It’s refreshing to see something so intelligently written and exploiting vulgarity or crude and done so well. Sometimes you get hooked on a blog and it becomes awfully vulgar and just a bore to read. I don’t understand why some people thing that it’s “cool” to do that. Congrats on a fine job, thanks for doing this.
Great to see you back in the political mix Jenn and welcome to your partner Robert.
The fight for conservatism is on and showing the GOP and others in Washington that this Nation still beleives in conservative values and ideas.
Robert, I especially appreciate you inlcusion of the Reagan revolution and the values he brought as President that gave conservatism its first light in the political arena and proved to the GOP that success in elections comes from real conservative values and not just talking a good game then gvoerneing like a Democrat.
You have been posted as Blog of the Month over at my sight and I look ofrward to working with you in the fight to keep America free and standing firm on our Constitutional principles.
Thanks Ken, but you already know me...
We are going to rally conservatives everywhere - blogland, Disneyland, middle-Americaland, and anywhere they ahve been hiding for all of these years and reform the party to be what it has not been for too long. Thanks for keeping the fight strong!
Drop off your coffee cup next visit...
Tao, I promised a return and although later than I intended, I am here nonetheless.
I have to disagree with the assertion that the conservative movement has been the dominant political ideology for two decades. I would posit that aside from the lasting impact of Goldwater, and the 1980-1988 years, conservatism has not been the main political thought. The republican party, poised ont he brink of making it so, dissolved itself into moderation in 1994 and since that time has become little more than right wing democrats.
There is a presumed attitude of resolve and confidence to our task, as anyone who has a staunch belief in anything is firm and resolute. I would not compare that to an air of superiority, as exhibited by the left wing celebrities and rabid liberals.
Religion has a place in our society, just as it has in every society in history. Religion influences, and often crafts, governemnt policy and actions. it matters not whether you are talking about ancient Mayan civilization or the presence of christians in today's debates, it cannot be ignored that the very morals set forth in our laws and our national sense of conscience.
Looking forward to more visits and extended discussions!
You two sound like a great team. This should lead to be a very interesting blog...
Good luck with it.
As is yours, Frank! Drop off your coffee cup and come back often...I will be spending some time at your place, and I think we can have some good discussion and good progress at both places.
Thanks Robert for taking the slack while I've been away.
LA....glad you stopped by and I look forward to your posts and your wicked sense of humor!
TAO...."religious liberalism" that is an interesting statement and I am curious to hear what exactly you accuse my blog of??
[Liberals do not believe in big government any more than conservatives do]
I'm not sure how you can say that. Distribution of Wealth and a nationalized health care system are nothing but big government. We seek as little goverment as humanly possible and that is a direct contradiction to the liberal policies I just mentioned.
Intrepid...Welcome to CC! We are glad you stopped by and we strive to accomplish everything you stated. A place for real discussion, and not just the back and forth talking points that sometimes take place on blogs.
Ken....I missed ya! Great to see you over here! We look forward to hearing your input!
Hiya Frank! Glad you dropped in! We are really looking forward to making a change and it's people like you that will help us do it.
Jennifer, Government gets bigger with each administration regardless of whether they profess to be liberal or conservative. If I have to choose I would rather pay higher taxes than increase government debt because with debt you are always increasing the budget due to interest payments. If you believe that the government needs to spend the amounts that it does then you should believe in paying for it right now. By using debt you allow spending to continue without anyone saying a thing. I wrote a post on my blog about my opinion inregards to religion and politics and you can check it out at http://tao-whocares.blogspot.com I am now trying to finish one about gay marriage...it will be quite obvious why I think the concept of Conservative Christian should be changed to Christian Liberalism.
Tao.....I will check it out!
Congratulations, Robert and Jennifer. I can say from first hand experience, blogging and misery like company. I’ll change our Link List accordingly.
At the End of Days, when global climate change brings high seas, and your friendly (O)CT(O)PUS will be haunting those submerged posh hotels in Miami, Captain Fogg and Dino and Expat will be riding the waves on Blue Moon (his pirate vessel) heading east.
Robert and Jennifer, I wish you a glorious sunrise on your maiden voyage.
Jenn and Robert,
First, it is great to see two of my favorite online friends -and persons I have come to know quite well- unify in a concurring mission. The both of you on your own have enough postings to sustain my hunger for thought-snacks. Together? I can imagine the one pushing the other to greater pieces and the bantering back and forth that will emanate from this unholy alliance will surely satisfy both your fans, and those who will undoubtedly take glee in pissing on your parade of postings as they are laid out :)
I've read all the postings of both your individual blogs (and this one) since election night and its funny to me that I feel your pain,... seriously, I do. Although I am not a Neo-Con or Republican party participant, I have plenty of independent conservative/libertarian blood gurgling though my heart valves. I know what it is to be misunderstood and watch the ideas and principles you feel are best for the country being represented by a person who cannot sell it (McCain). But what I find most endearing is that most persons who consider themselves "conservatives" in the classical definition, are not self-flogging and wandering through the self-masturbatory bents of uber-retrospection. Instead, the real believers (media pimps excluded) are being pragmatic about things. They are willing to look behind, ponder at the electoral pasting they suffered, and just wipe off the blood-snot from their collective egos and turn the page. I'm right there with ya'.
Myself, I am trying to decide where to go with my Blog. Year-end tends to be a self-analysis period for me personally. Sometimes this love-of-spew we have can be such an addiction of simply wanting to vent or want of attention and not at all altruistic. But then I stop, and puff up my chest and stop thinking that I am re-inventing the wheel or saving mankind from itself, that I am but one bullhorn in a cacophony of millions who are elbowing for the ears of those close enough to be inspired or influenced by my thoughts. I cannot ask for anything else but the kindness of readers who invite me into the theater of their gray matter. I am sure the both of you have the same humble and noble intent.
I congratulate you on this, I promise to be present as often as I can, and will be joining in the pissing party every chance I get to unload the lizard .... ;)
Robert & Jenn, Thank you for your wishes and prayers; they are much appreciated. It is not my mother who is ill, but a cousin who has lung cancer. She is an only child, both her parents are dead and she never married or had children so we cousins are all she has.
It is a long drive which I am making every week or two and it is quite a challenge to keep her on a positive path. Of course, I must come home once in a while to remind my husband he is still married, keep my business running and take my turn rocking the jailhouse every other weekend!
It is tiring, but I would not do one thing differently; no one should ever face crisis and peril alone. It certainly helps to know we are on so many prayer lists -- I feel certain that is why God has allowed me safe travel and helps me find ways to continually renew my soul. Thank you both.
Sorry for the mix up! It doesn't change anything though, because God knows exactly who we are praying for! Keep up the faith, Rocky! You are doing something very admirable and I am sure she is very appreciative!!!!!
TAO.....well I checked it out and I must say I didn't agree with you in the least bit, but you probably know that already. I was going to comment on your blog, but there were so many things that I took an issue with that it would not be beneficial to either of us for me to do so. So I will simply say this. I am a Christian. I am a conservative. I believe in love and equality and compassion like you state in your post, but I also believe that as a Christian, the Ten Commandments is my guide to live by. It does not say anywhere in the Bible about separation of church and state, I'd really like to know where you got that from?
I have my values and beliefs and just because they don't happen to jive with yours doesn't mean that I am intolerant or judgemental. It's ironic that you find fault with my blog, but you can criticize Christians to your heart's content. If you have issues with my blog, well, that is your prerogative, just as it is mine to dislike yours. What I take offense to is the fact that you came on here and criticized my blog. As many things as you accuse me or my blog of, that is something I would never do. It is not relevant to this post or this blog and it accomplishes nothing.
You said that we should not be "followers" yet that is what the Bible tell us to do. We follow the teachings and the Word of God. I'm not going to get into this whole issue with you anymore than I already have. You asked me to visit your site and I have. I can say with no qualms that we definitely have a different outlook on things.
This is not what this blog is about. This blog is about conservatism and getting back to the core principles, that we, as a country have turned from. That is where my focus is and that is where it will stay. If you truly want to accomplish the goals the blog sets out, than we need to come together on the bigger issues and agree to disagree on the smaller ones. We all have different views and there is nothing wrong with that. It is when we let that stop us from seeing the bigger picture and acting on it, that it poses a problem.
Your page looks nice. I like the banner!
Clay, thanks for the kind words! Please drop by often....I will be stopping by your place soon.
Thanks for inviting me over here, will check back when I have more time. It all looks great!
You have some great contributors and I wish you every success. We need every Conservative voice working for the movement.
Jenn and Truth Pain should keep the conversation lively and on point.

Adding you on the blogroll!
Thank you Brooke! You have long been a kindred spirit and a supported, and I continue to enjoy the Paleocon Command Center (on our links). Hope we find you here often!
Great to have found you through Mr. Sunset. The election has left me dizzy, not sure where I am anymore. Conservatives need to band together and fight back against the Europeanization of our republic. This looks like a good place to do just that!
Welcome to the house Greg, and make sure yo visit often. We use the chat feature on the right when we are on, just be patient if you dont get an automatic response. We are often multi-tasking!
