When one declares oneself to be a conservative, one is not, unfortunately, thereupon visited by tongues of fire that leave one omniscient. The acceptance of a series of premises is just the beginning. After that, we need constantly to inform ourselves, to analyze and to think through our premises and their ramifications. We need to ponder, in the light of the evidence, the strengths and the weaknesses, the consistencies and the inconsistencies, the glory and the frailty of our position, week in and week out. Otherwise, we will not hold our own in a world where informed dedication, not just dedication, is necessary for survival and growth.

Things Coming Together Here

To all of those who have become regulars in our cyber-coffeehouse, a sincere thank you from all of us here at CC. We know that you can click around and find thousands of places to read, and we appreciate the time you spend here reading and discussing.

We are trying to build something unique, and many seem to think that we are making great progress to that end. As we go forward, we hope to offer qualitative content for all. As you read further down, you will notice the "talking paper" format. An idea proposed by Sam, it is an interesting way to organize posts, and involve everyone who visits. Please give the template a test drive and let someone here know how you like it.

We are attempting to create "Conservatism 101" here, and following a substantial series of posts and thoughts we will author an "Ideological Charter" that will become editorial policy so to speak for the site. That doesn't mean that everyone will always be in lockstep, but if we are to reach our goal of demanding a return to conservative values then by default we must know what those values are before we can expect action on them. At that point we will have an organizational outlook of conservatism, and we can then use that guideline when discussing the future issues of the day and the activities of the incoming administration.

This is why it is extremely important that everyone participate. If we just wanted to talk among ourselves, then we could simply exchange emails. We are wanting your input and your discussion! Read daily, subscribe to feeds, leave lengthy comments, take us to task for the things we miss or get wrong....take some ownership here and help propel this ship forward! The posts have items for discussion as well as the authors opinion. Let us know what you think.

I think things are coming together rather well too. Yeah we will all hit a few bumps in the road, but we are starting to get in a rhythm with our posting and format. I like your line about the e-mails! We do that enough as it is, we want to hear from everybody. We are still really new but I think we are on the right track to accomplishing our goals and missions here!

Working full time and taking classes part time, I am not able to keep up with my blog, as well as others as often as I would like. I'm not far though! I'll try to play catch up with the posts!

Thanks for blogrolling me....I'll do the same for this important blog.
We must build Conservativism up again and I'm hoping we remember THE MEDIA is the MAIN THING WE HAVE TO CHANGE SOMEHOW. Let's discuss that...we have to get them to stop shoring up the ridiculous notion that Democrats=Correct and Republicans=EVIL.

If we fail to reinstate the precepts of real conservatism, we are in for a rocky ride.

The only way I can see that this will be accomplishes is through a right revolt, for which it might be (hopefully not) too late.

The first bastion of leftism we must overcome, IMHBCO (In My Humble, But Correct Opinion), is the unapologetic union of the MSM with the left wing of the Democrat Party.

They are absolutely goo-goo eyed over BO and have taken to calling him President Obama (nevermind that he won't be President until January 20th).

Let's form a viable platform, support it and fight to institute it.

For a start, visit http://okiepatriot.blogspot.com/ and read his post named, "Manifesto."

I don't think it is too late, Joe. In 1994 the dem party was in disarray and the GOP had them on the ropes as far as ideology. Reagan had only been out of ofice for six years, and Bush Sr was not the conservative that he could have been. People wanted change then, too! They chose the GOP model of change which was conservatism and following the original intent of our founders.

As a party we blew it. The dems recovered quite nicely and now the trend, should it not change, is to the left. It doesn't take a miracle, just hard work and determination.

When are you writing the Conservatism 101 textbook that should be required reading in all schools? I'd love to see that day happen! Keep up the great work.

Never before in my life, did I feel that our Country needed Conservatives more. We will be the movement that will lead us out of the Marxist wilderness...

Biased Girl....Thank you so much for stopping by. It is because of people like you that conservatism can and will come back to the GOP in great force. We welcome you here with open arms. We are pretty laid back so, grab a chair, lean back, and join right in!

It looks like you have a great plan that is well on its way. This is the kind of grassroots effort that will help conservatives get back on their feet.

To all who have participated and will continue to do so, please accept my heartfelt thanks. It is not easy staying on point and motivated with the day-to-day lives most of us live, ... but with a smidgen of determination and consistency of messaging, we should make a dent in the minds that are still salvageable.
