When one declares oneself to be a conservative, one is not, unfortunately, thereupon visited by tongues of fire that leave one omniscient. The acceptance of a series of premises is just the beginning. After that, we need constantly to inform ourselves, to analyze and to think through our premises and their ramifications. We need to ponder, in the light of the evidence, the strengths and the weaknesses, the consistencies and the inconsistencies, the glory and the frailty of our position, week in and week out. Otherwise, we will not hold our own in a world where informed dedication, not just dedication, is necessary for survival and growth.

Obama Will Explain to the Arab World That We Aren't the Enemy....

...and they will apologize and quit trying to kill us!
(Did I tell you the one about the... oh, nevermind!)

Obama chooses Arab network for first TV interview
CAIRO, Egypt – President Barack Obama on Tuesday chose an Arabic satellite TV network for his first formal television interview as president, delivering a message to the Muslim world that "Americans are not your enemy."
*snip*
The president expressed an intention to engage the Middle East immediately and his new envoy to the region, former Sen. George J. Mitchell, was expected to arrived in Egypt on Tuesday for a visit that will also take him to Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

"My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy," Obama told the Saudi-owned, Dubai-based Al-Arabiya news channel.
*snip*
WOW! All we have to do is tell them that we aren't their enemy and they will stop trying to kill off the infidels. Interesting? Why didn't President Bush think of that? Oh, yeah. I remember! President Bush was busy trying to protect us after radical Muslims destroyed the Twin Towers and killed off 3,000 innocent civilians. I guess he wasn't in the mood to tell them that "We aren't your enemy."

Note to Obama: They don't care! We aren't Islam and their agenda is to kill off everyone who doesn't convert to Islam. Gads, this is so infuriatingly frustrating! They will stop trying to do us in when pigs fly.

Another excerpt from the article:
"What I told him is start by listening, because all too often the United States starts by dictating," Obama told the interviewer.
Read it all here.

Yes, it's America's fault because we are dictators, folks! That's why 9/11 happened. That's why the USS Cole was attacked. By the way, Clinton was president when the USS Cole was attacked. I suppose he wasn't friendly enough either.

Well, Obama is going to talk to them and tell them that we aren't their enemy and everything will be hunky-dory. After all, they are simply misguided people filled with love for all people and don't have a prejudiced bone in their bodies. This entire thing is a simple misunderstanding and is all our fault because we are dictators. BARF!

Just a reminder. Perhaps Obama needs to watch it:

I was going to wait a day or two longer to cross-post this, but I post it now at Jennifer's request.

Thank you Gail, you work fast! LOL I hope you don't mind but I added a little note at the bottom to check out the other new piece posted below.

Like I said on your blog, I hope this naivety wears off before we are faced with another 9-11!

You're welcome, Jennifer, and I commented on your excellent post. I hope everybody reads it. I'm glad you added the notation at the bottom. Yes, I do work fast. I just hope it wasn't just a bit too fast! :)

In addition, I hope people will take time to actually watch the video. It's truly an eye-opener!

"Americans are not your enemy."

Which, like everything else BO says, is not the point...we are not not the enemy because BO says we are not, we ARE the enemy because they have declared us to be so.

Like it or not, Mr. President, that makes us their enemy and them ours.

What do you care where President Obama gives an interview?

Interestingly enough, the United Arab Emirates, where Al-Arabiya broadcasts from Dubai is among the staunchest US allies in the Arab world.

Ask Larry Kudlow of the National Review:

Sorry we can't just kill them all.

As usual, Arthur, you are throwing around accusations without cause. I said nothing about killing them all. Why would you say that? Is it because that's what is in your heart? It certainly isn't in mine. Why, pray tell, is it that you don't care what he says to the people who feel the way that the video proves? Hmmmm? Did you even watch it? I'd be willing to bet that you didn't.

I know you well, Arthur. You love to spew your liberal blather all over conservative blogs and you are one of those who is having a Slobbering Love Affair with Obama, just like the liberal MSM. You are part of the problem and not part of the solution, so your opinions truly don't matter to me. Honest.

Gayle opined:

'You are part of the problem and not part of the solution, so your opinions truly don't matter to me. Honest.'

Then why do you always respond?

But what about the fact that the UAE is an ally of the US hosting a number of US military bases? Why shouldn't the C in C give an interview to media from one of our friends?

My apologies, Joe, I missed your comment. You're exactly right. We are indeed in a war not of our choosing. Obama needs to wake up and smell the coffee!

My God, Obama cannot be that naive, can he?

Nevermind.

The truth here is that the real enemy of Muslims is themselves. They have killed far more of their own people than we ever will.

As far as the contention that UAE is one of our strongest allies, this is incredibly rediculous. At best, our "friendship" is one of convenience for them. They quietly develop some of the most hard line and hateful Muslims in their schools with the government's silent acceptance. We need to cut them off instead of kissing their arse like Obama is doing.

I think calling Obama naive is generous.

Hope you don't mind me weighing in. Obama is, for a number of reasons, the largest threat to American security that we've seen in the last 50 years. He detests what the U.S. has stood for, this can be seen through his affiliations, and is now actively seeking out our enemies to try to snuggle up to them, in the hopes that he can show them a kinder, gentler America that will cowtow to the radical Islamic movement.

I look for a formal distancing of the Administration from Israel next.

Mark me, he's gonna keep it up way past the point when it'll be plain that to do so is gonna cause another 9/11.

I'm just trying to figure out if he's just naive or evil.

Also, I posted on this topic and put the full video to "Obsession" on my post for Dec. 14,2008. It's a good piece of Educational film, from an insider's point of view. I think your clip here is a portion.

Gayle said...

Yes, Brooke, I think he's proving that he can be.

Agreed, Chuck. Thanks.

LOL, CB. You may have a point there.

"Mind you weighing in", Greywolf. Never! Yes, I thought the video I posted was a portion of the Obsession film too. I can't predict what's going to happen, but I feel it's safe to say that we need to keep our eyes open.

Any alliance or friendship is always based on convenience. The fact remains that the UAE allows the US military to support a large presence in the region by providing access to bases in their country. They are by far one of the US strongest allies in the region. Now I personally don't think it's a great idea for US military might to jack up Middle Eastern despots and it likely will come back to bite us in the ass at some future date. But it isn't as if our Middle Eastern policies have ever been particularly coherent.

I actually have a question I want to throw out there for discussion and I will add my 2 cents at a later date.

Does this interview with Muslims weaken us in their (Muslims) eyes. If it did, then was that a particularly smart thing to do?

Gayle said...

Jennifer, I think it did, and I don't believe it was a smart thing to do, and that's an understatement!
